Carburettor Identification Guide

2-Stroke Engines

Some manufacturers have fitted more than one type of carburettor to a machine and this means there is more than one choice of carburettor on a set of drawings.

The choice will predominently be between a Walbro or a Zama carburettor and below are images of these carburettors, showing where the identication marks will be.

Walbro will be embossed on the carburettor

The model will be stamped into the base of the carburettor

The carburettor pictured is a Walbro WT-834

Zama will be embossed on the carburettor

The model will be a combination of marks on the top and bottom of the carburettor

The carburettor pictured is a Zama C1Q-M33D

4-Stroke Engines

To identify carburettors on 4-stroke engines, often, the engine model and serial number will be required.  There are often no id marks on these carburettors and any numbers are production numbers rather than part numbers.
